한국어과정소개

Starting as Korean Language Program in International Langage Center, 2004, Korean Language Education Center(KLEC in short) was expanded and reorganized under Office of International Affairs, setting a goal as a professional institution in globalization of Korean language to keep pace with changes in society and globalization.

(Korean Language Program) was developed in needs of language program for foreigners and children of overseas Koreans who are willing to learn Korean and experience its culture and furthermore in needs of enthusiastic promotion for Korean language and culture in the era of globalization.We aim to help foreign students to understand Korean culture by live and communicate in Korean language. For overseas Koreans and their children, we focus to prove their identity as a Korean by experience Korean culture.

To achieve this, we provide various language educational facilities such as Gachon TOPIK Center, Computer Lab, and Library for Audio and Video that are furnished with our brand new linguistic equipments. KLEC helps students to understand the Korean culture properly by providing excellent teachers, student centered education, small group classes, and advanced education environment.

Also, in Gachon International Center, we provide a counselling service for foreign students with their worries and troubles about living abroad.

1. Introduction

Target

Foreigners and overseas Koreans who want to learn Korean

Objectives

- Training communication ability through education on reading and writing
- Encouraging students understanding on Korean culture and society through diverse cultural experience programs
- Focused training and active supports for students to get best results in TOPIK tests in a short period of time

Target

- Korean Language
  · Communication-centric education integrating speaking, listening, reading and writing based on advanced training techniques
- Cultural Experience
  · On-site experimental programs including visits to Korean Folk Villages, Lotte World, and Icheon Ceramic Village and diverse cultural events
    such as seeing concerts, speaking contest and sports competition
- Customized Class by Different Korean Proficiencies
  · Perform level tests for all freshmen to have a customized education

2. Contents of Levels

Entry 1~2 TOPIK Level 1~2
· How to pronounce, write and spell Korean letters
· Accurate reading and writing Korean sentences through learning basic grammar and sentence structure
· Basic education for communication ability required for everyday life in Korea
Intermediate 1~2 TOPIK Level 3~4
· Expressions on private and specific matters required for everyday life
· Improving communication ability to explain one’s interests and basic business expressions
· Improving general understanding of Korean culture and society
Advanced 1~2 TOPIK Level 5~6
· Improving language performance required for professional experiences
· Improving communication ability to exchange opinions on diverse subjects
· Encouraging specific understanding of Korean society through local newspaper, TV programs, news,
  and literary works

Gachon Korean 1 (1-1)
Gachon Korean 1 is the first textbook that was developed by Gachon University's Korean Language Education Center. This book has been made for learners, who study Korean for the first time, to learn basic Korean grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary and to make use of these knowledge in basic conversation. It will a good grounding in learning Korean for foreign students.

Gachon Korean 2 (1-2)
Gachon Korean 2 is the second book taking an objective to learn Korean in short time. Since 2011, this book was used in actual classes, revised every semester, and published in Dec. 2013 by Gachon Universtiy' KLEC. We are confident that Gachon Korean 2 is to be a good guidance for foreign learners.

• Applicants must have more than TOPIK Level 3 to enroll, and students must have more than TOPIK Leve 4 to graduate.
• After the entrance, foreign students must take Korean Classes opened in Korean Language Education Center prior to other classes through
   semesters.
• Comprehensive Curriculum is progressing in 'Speaking•Grammar->Speaking/Listening->Reading->Writing'
• Organized by level, the curriculum will help students to take major classes effectively by improving Korean fluency and accuracy.






가천 토픽 센터

• Students with TOPIK Level 3 need continuous practice to get Level 4 in short period of time. By taking mock test repeatedly, students will be comfortable with general test pattern and time management. Teachers of Korean Language Education Center analyze TOPIK question trends, come up with questions for the mock test. The test results will be posted on the wall after the mock test and detailed information will be given privately.

• Students apply for tests every semester, and take the test in morning or afternoon.



TOPIK Level 4 Class

- Students with Level 3, and wish to get TOPIK Level 4 (must be applied for the next TOPIK test) are eligible to take this class.
- Total Hour : 60 hours (20 Classes X 3 hours/day)
- Number of Students : Max. 15
